Knowledge and understanding
As well
as building on the skills and knowledge acquired in year 4, students by the end
of their Year 5 Drama course should have a theoretical and practical knowledge
and understanding of:
- the ability to analyze the text as a plan of action as a director with awareness of themes style, use of space blocking and dramatic tension.
- understanding and ability to analyze text as a plan of action as an actor with awareness of characterization, psychology, background and emotions of characters, relationships and character objectives.
- understanding and ability to analyze text as a plan of action as a designer with some skill in operating lights, creating scenery, costumes, music, sound and publicity.
- devising original material with awareness of targeted audience
- performance skills – use of body and voice
- an understanding and knowledge of the basic development of world theatre from Greeks to Modern day
- Forum Theatre
Application
At
the end of the course students should be able to:
- demonstrate an ability to find original and inventive solutions
- apply skills specific to the art forms studied to elaborate an a theme to a point of realization
- present their work through formal performance.
Group Project
- Performance based on original material targeted for local audience
Evaluation and Reflection:
At
the end of the course students should be able to:
- assess and appraise their own work and that of others
- use group discussion and feedback to support and promote creative development
- present and answer questions about the overall concept of the performance to a panel of 3 teachers
- get feedback from 5 different sources
Artistic Awareness and Personal Engagement:
At the end of the course students should be able to:- show sensitivity to their own cultures
- show initiative, creativity and willingness to take risk
- accept and incorporate views and feedback from others to further develop their artistic potential
